LITTLE IS NOT INEPT (Vietnam).

There once lived a very famous Statesman in Vietnam. His name was Ly. He was short in stature. But not to be mistaken for a dwarf.

Though small Ly had a mighty brain. People came to him from all over Vietnam for advice to settle their problems. Big ones and little ones, he settled them all with great ease, and giving them good advise. People brought him many gifts and presents, but Ly returned them with a courteous smile. People called him the big advocate for little problems, and the little advocate for big problems.

One time Ly was entrusted with the task of visiting the Chinese emperor to settle a political problem between the two countries. Though the problem was great the little man was sure to settle it in his little way.

When Ly arrived at the Emperor’s palace the Dragon King was seated on his Dragon throne. He looked down at lee and questioned, ‘Are the Vietnamese all little people?”

Ly answered, Sire, in Vietnam we have both little and big men. People are chosen appropriately to handle appropriate problems. Since this is a little problem I was honored to be sent as its advocate.

The Dragon King marveled at Ly’s reply. Then he said, “If the Vietnamese think that such an important matter between our two countries is only a small matter; then they must indeed be honorable and powerful people. The matter is settled. Return home to your country, with peace and honor.’

Ly forthwith returned home to great rejoicing.
