Born and raised in Sri Lanka, Chandrani and her family moved to the United States in 1991. Chnadrani's love for children led her to become a follower of Maria Montessori. She became a Montessori teacher retiring in 2004.
Educated at Good Shepherd Convent Kandy, Sri Lanka, Chandrani entered the University of Sri Lanka, Peradeniya, and graduated with a Liberal Arts Degree, and an Honors Degree in Philosophy in 1968. She continued her studies with a Post Graduate Diploma in Education in 1986, and a Master's Degree in Comparative Religion, from the University of Lancaster, England.
Chandrani enjoyed writing. It was her hobby since childhood. Desiring to be connected with children, she began her writing career, as an Inspirational Children's Writer. She has written many stories for children including several volumes of poetry. She plans to submit these stories, and poems to a publisher. She is a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators.(SCBWI)
Favorite Folktales of Sri Lanka is her first fiction book for children. The book was written to mark the sixtieth (Jubilee) Independance Anniversary of Sri Lanka in 2008.
Chandrani is the mother of two grown children Sanji and Muditha and a grandmother of two grand children, Melissa Bernadette and Michael Leo, W. Chandrani lives in Duarte, california.
